Royal Caribbean - Sea Seekers

Royal Caribbean wanted to create new content for their Snapchat audience, so we took Snapchat Spectacles--Snapchat's recording 'spyglasses'--and let Royal Caribbean cruisers take them where they had ever been before: underwater.

We enlisted the help of three underwater divers to test the product in the waters off the coast of Mexico and Belize.

Along with multiple videos, a social takeover campaign on Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook, each diver shot a POV video from their underwater Spectacles.

The wrap video tells the whole story: from making the goggles, the Snap footage from the divers, and the behind-the-scenes cinematography.

Something goes awry on every production. And in this case, it was the perfect storm—literally—as 2 hurricanes crashed into each other offshore, closing all ports along the Yucatan peninsula and derailing our production for days.

Working with director Russell Brownley and the relentless and imaginative production team from B-reel Films, we re-invented each day on the fly. In the end, we shot nothing that we came to shoot, yet we walked away with a reel full of beautiful and magnificent stories.
